## When a custom scope is the right answer

Custom work applies when the site has to do something the packages do not cover: ecommerce beyond a simple catalogue, booking against real availability, a members or client area, a quoting engine, or integration with software you already run. Ecommerce builds start at €6,000; other custom work is quoted from scope because the range is genuinely too wide for a starting figure to be meaningful.

## How custom projects are scoped

We map the workflow first — what happens now, who touches it, and where it breaks — before discussing technology. That session produces a written specification with the functional requirements, the integrations, the assumptions and the exclusions. You own that document whether or not you build with us, and it is deliberately detailed enough to take to another supplier for comparison.

## Payment structure on larger builds

Custom projects run on staged payments, typically 40% at scope sign-off, 30% at build milestone and 30% on launch, against a signed specification. Change requests during build are quoted separately rather than absorbed silently, so the final invoice matches the one you approved. Scope creep handled informally is the most common reason custom projects sour, on both sides.

## What we will decline

We turn down work that needs a team we do not have, ongoing round-the-clock support we cannot staff, or a timeline that would force corners to be cut. Saying no to two or three projects a year is part of why the ones we take on ship. If your project is outside our shape, we will say so on the first call rather than after the deposit.

Most custom projects involve connecting to something that already exists: an accounts package, a booking system, a supplier feed or a spreadsheet that half the business depends on. The scoping session establishes what each system holds, which one is authoritative when they disagree, and what happens when a connection fails at two in the morning. Those answers determine cost far more than the visible interface does.
