The 10-point checklist before you sign
Over the last two years we've rebuilt dozens of Irish business websites that were either abandoned by previous developers or held hostage on platforms the owner couldn't access. Use this checklist to avoid the same trap:
- You own the domain, hosting account and code — not the agency
- The platform allows you to leave (avoid proprietary, closed builders)
- SEO is built in from day one (schema, sitemap, fast Core Web Vitals)
- Mobile-first design verified on real devices, not just Chrome DevTools
- Live Irish client examples you can phone for a reference
- Fixed-scope written quote before any deposit is paid
- Clear payment terms (we use 50% deposit, 50% on launch)
- Post-launch support is optional, not forced
- Page speed score of 90+ on PageSpeed Insights at handover
- Full admin handover — Analytics, Search Console, Business Profile, code repo
Questions to ask on the discovery call
Most Irish business owners don't know what to ask a web designer. These five questions will tell you in ten minutes whether the agency is serious or coasting on jargon.
- What platform will you build it on, and can I move it if I want to?
- Will the site be indexed by Google on day one, and what schema will you add?
- What's your average PageSpeed score at handover?
- Can I see three Irish client sites you've built in the last 12 months?
- What happens if I want to leave after launch?

Frequently asked questions
Should I hire a freelancer or an agency for my Irish business website?
Freelancers are cheaper but carry single-person risk — illness, holidays, or moving on can leave you stranded. Agencies cost more but give you continuity, a documented process, and someone to answer the phone in three years when you need a change. Digital Bridge sits in the middle: agency-grade process, founder-led delivery.
Are Dublin web design companies better than the rest of Ireland?
No — Dublin agencies typically carry higher overheads (city-centre rent, larger teams) and pass that through in pricing. Outside-Dublin agencies like ours deliver the same quality at a fairer price because we don't pay €40/sqm office rent. The work is the same.
What's a fair price for a small business website in Ireland in 2026?
Genuine custom builds start at around €1,500–€2,500 for a small brochure site, scaling up for e-commerce or booking systems. Anything advertised under €500 is almost certainly a template with no SEO, no schema, and a hidden monthly fee. Get our pricing breakdown on the Professional Websites page.
Can I use the Grow Digital Voucher with Digital Bridge?
Yes. We're an approved supplier for the Local Enterprise Office's Grow Digital Voucher (up to €5,000 co-funded). The voucher can cover a new website, e-commerce build, or digital strategy work for eligible Irish SMEs.
Do I need ongoing maintenance after the site launches?
Highly recommended but never forced. Our Care plans cover security patches, backups, content updates and uptime monitoring — but if you'd prefer to handle it yourself, we hand over a documented site you can fully manage. No lock-in either way.
